5 Things Happening in the Franklin Park Neighborhood This Summer
Summertime in Franklin Park is more than warm weather, it’s about connection, growth and building community. Whether you're a parent, guardian, child, neighbor or community partner, there’s something for you this season. Here are five notable events in the Franklin Park neighborhood this summer:
1. Eat fresh
The Mobile Market by Kellyn Foundation returns this summer, serving the Franklin Park neighborhood every Tuesday at Franklin Park and every Thursday at Pinebrook Family Answers from 3:30-6:30 p.m. This isn’t your typical produce stand: the market provides affordable access to fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and even prepared meals. Qualifying residents can use SNAP/FMNP benefits at the mobile market. Last summer, over 1,400 households were served, and the market continues to be a trusted anchor for healthy living in the neighborhood.
2. After-school fun

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-6 p.m., Ripple Church (1421 W. Turner St.) transforms into a vibrant hub for kids age 3-13. The Uplift After School Program, as part of Families First in Franklin Park and Community Services for Children, offers games, creative activities and peer bonding all summer long (excluding the last week of each month). It's a joyful space where children can thrive, play and just be kids. On the last Tuesday and Thursday of each month, parents are invited for special meetings that offer resources and education.
3. Community garden nights
Fresh produce doesn’t just come from a truck; it also grows right here in the neighborhood. Every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., neighbors gather for Community Garden Night at Ripple Church. Led by Pastor Angela, residents tend the garden, pick vegetables, build community and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just curious, all are welcome to participate in this weekly harvest.
4. Monday Fun Day

Monday Fun Day, presented by Cohesion Network and the City of Allentown, will bring energy and entertainment to Franklin Park each week. Every Monday from June 16 through Aug. 4 from 3-5 p.m., expect family-friendly fun, laughter and maybe a few surprises.
5. Monthly community conversations
On the third Thursday of each month at Ripple Church, Cohesion Network proudly hosts Community Conversations, a space for neighbors to break bread, build relationships and share ideas for the future of Franklin Park. After a pause in June to honor Juneteenth, the next sessions will be held on July 17, Aug. 21 and Sept. 18 from 6:15-8 p.m. Come hungry, come curious, and come ready to connect.
