Meehan retires after more than 40 years of dedicated service.

This message is from Robert X. Murphy Jr., MD, Executive Vice President and  Chief Physician Executive, LVHN; President and CEO, Populytics.

After more than 40 years of dedicated service, Edward Meehan, Executive Director, Leonard Parker Pool Institute for Health, is retiring.

Ed served as the inaugural Executive Director for the Leonard Parker Pool Institute for Health since its launch in 2021. He previously held the same role for The Rider-Pool Foundation and The Dorothy Rider Pool Health Care Trust since 1983.

During his career, Ed has been an agent for positive change and helped to make the Lehigh Valley a better place to live, work, learn and receive care.

Ed volunteered his expertise to governing boards that support health, wellness and community development. He also worked closely with LVHN to have a demonstrable, dramatic and sustained impact on the health of our community.

During his time with The Rider-Pool Foundation, Ed led efforts to build community through human services, the arts, public education and community development. Evidence of Ed’s leadership and dedication to community can be seen in projects that helped improve the lives of people in our community. He played a significant role in establishing Building 21 in the Allentown City School District, development of The Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley and creation of The Pool Fellowship for Health.

Ed volunteered his leadership in many national, state and local not-for-profit boards and special committees where his guidance played a pivotal role in improving community health. His work included efforts for at-risk youth, smoking cessation, tobacco and drug councils, K-12 education initiatives, housing and neighborhood development.

Congratulations to Ed on his well-deserved retirement. The Lehigh Valley is a better place because of his leadership, vision and ability to foster the spirit of community.
