Shawn Duncan Makes ‘The Case for Place’ in Pool Speaker Series

On April 30, 2024, important conversations continued courtesy of the Pool Speaker Series. Our latest speaker was Shawn Duncan, consultant, trainer, public speaker and Director of Training and Consulting at Focused Community Strategies (FCS) in Atlanta, Ga. He spoke about holistic neighborhood development and why neighborhoods should serve as the unit of change when trying to create equitable, thriving places. 

FCS remains one of the Leonard Parker Pool Institute for Health’s close partners as we envision a holistic neighborhood development approach in Franklin Park, a densely populated urban neighborhood in Allentown. Together with FCS, we believe such an approach is the evidence-based best practice for achieving a cohesive neighborhood where all residents and visitors have equitable opportunities. Health happens in communities, with the community’s help.
